DAY 01 PALERMO
Arrive at Palermo airport and pick up your rented car to move to your hotel, where you will spend 2 nights. The rest of the day is free to acquaint with the local area or to walk around and discover the capital of Sicily region.

 

DAY 02 PALERMO
Today drive to Monreale, just 8KM far from Palermo, to see the magnificent Cathedral built by William II in 1174. Have lunch in one of the several restaurants, then drive back towards Palermo where you could stop  to Mount Pellegrino, a 600 metres high mountain rising on the west edge of the city. The alternative, if the weather permits, is to relax on the beautiful Mondello beach. (Breakfast)

 

DAY 03 SEGESTA – ERICE – TRAPANI
Breakfast at the hotel, then travel towards west to reach Segesta, an archaeological site where it stands alone the world’s finest example of a Doric temple. Visit also the Greek theatre then you can have lunch here or en route and go to Erice (about 40km far), positioned over 750 metres above the coast. It famous for its almond biscuits and pastries, proudly stacked up in the windows of several pasticcerie. You can decide to have dinner in Erice or on the way to your hotel. Overnight will be in Trapani area. (Breakfast)

 

DAY 04 TRAPANI – EGADI ISLANDS – TRAPANI
Breakfast at the hotel, then today leave your car at Trapani port and take the ferry for a daily excursion to one – or all of three – of the Egadi isles: Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo. Come back to Trapani, pick up your car and come back to your hotel. (Breakfast)

 

DAY 05 – MARSALA – AGRIGENTO
Leave Trapani to move towards south. During your journey, you can stop to Marsala, a city well know all over the world for its wine. Included a visit one of the several wineries for a wine tasting with light lunch, then rest a little before starting driving again. Arrive in the late afternoon to your hotel in Agrigento, rest of the day is free. (Breakfast, Lunch).

 

DAY 06 – AGRIGENTO
This morning meet your English speaking guide for a whole day of touring of Agrigento’s “Valle dei Templi”: Doric temples built about in 440 B.C., you can see the temple of Concord, temple of Juno, Hercules, Dioscuri, Jupiter and the temple of Castor and Pollux. (Breakfast)

 

DAY 07 PIAZZA ARMERINA – SIRACUSA
After breakfast take your car and move to Siracuse, an ancient town on the sea. Before arriving stop en route to Piazza Armerina, a pretty and historic town famous for the truly astonishing classical mosaics at the Villa Romana del Casale. Rest of the day is free. (Breakfast).

 

DAY 08 SIRACUSA – NOTO – SIRACUSA
This morning visit the most beautiful Greek colony of Sicily, with its archaeological area including the famous Latomie, the Greek Theatre, the Roman Amphitheatre and the Dionysius ‘Ear’. Visit  the island of Ortigia, the small baroque old city centre of Siracusa, built by the Aragonians: here you can admire the Cathedral and the ‘Fontana Aretusa’. In the afternoon depart to Noto, one of the  most beautiful cities in Sicily renowned for the harmony and unity of its Baroque style and today declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Rest of the day is free. (Breakfast)

 

DAY 09 CATANIA – ACIREALE
Move to Acireale for your last two nights in Sicily.
You can stop en route to Catania and visit the two Roman amphitheaters, the Ursino Castle, used  to be a coastal fortress before volcanic eruptions extended the coastline and the Cathedral (Breakfast)

 

DAY 10 ETNA VOLCANO – TAORMINA
After breakfast enjoy an excursion to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Across fascinating landscape, you will reach a height of 2000 metres, where you will enjoy a fantastic panorama of the Ionic Sea. Continue to Taormina, called ‘the pearl of the Ionic Sea’ and founded in 400 BC, beautifully located overlooking the sea and the park of Mount Etna. Visit of the Greek Theatre. Enjoy time at leisure for shopping or simply walk through the tiny streets.

 

DAY 11 PALERMO AIRPORT
Transfer to Palermo airport to drop off your car and to take a flight back home
